It's a BOY!!!

Oh, Sweet Mother of Mercy, it's a big beautiful healthy boy!

I cannot begin to tell you how relieved I am, though I am sure you know... I seriously had no idea what I would do with a girl.  I am just so thankful my first baby will be an easy little boy.  I know they can be very difficult and needy as well, but I would still much rather worry about one penis instead of all the rest.

When the nurse told us it was a boy I squealed with delight.  My husband just said "oh wow, is that his...” I just looked at him and told him I was sorry.  He really doesn't seem to be too broken up about having a son.  All is good!  We have even started to pick out boy names... "Luca" "Nico" and "Finn" are big for us today.  Vienna will just have to wait...

I have also really started bonding with my baby. It may sound bad but...learning the gender and that my baby has 4 chambers in his heart, working organs and growing right on schedule makes it a lot easier to just let go and fall in love knowing we are "99% free of anomaly."   That being said, I do want to make it clear that I would love my baby regardless of defect or issue, it's the fear of pre-birth loss that scares the hell out of me, and knowing now that we have a low chance of that is huge!

One last side note I want to share...  Lately I have been hearing  and reading about Banking Cord Blood and looking into the cost, pros and cons.  Today I asked my doctor her thoughts and she said she was not a big fan. To some up her words, she has NEVER seen anyone use it because the chances of needing it are low, and then the chances of being able to use it are even lower and the cost is astronomical, plus you could bank it forever! She said she doesn't want to tell me not to do it incase I am that person who needs it, but she personally never did it and wouldn't do it herself. I am still looking into it and will post my findings and opinion soon.  As always my opinion is not worth anything so consult you doctor about what's best for you and your family.

  2. Thank you Natalie! I am so excited but I have to admit, after finding out it was a boy I started looking at little girls and their cute dresses lovingly... I suppose the grass may always seem greener on the otherside. I'm still sure a boy is best for me but I did realiaze that I would be so happy to have either. Best wishes to all three of you! ; )
